I’ve talked quite a bit about my love for astrology, often peppering it into my stories of personal development and deciding when to self-publish my debut novel.
But before I became a devoted student of astrology, I was a student of numerology.
I don't remember how I discovered numerology, only that it was when I was frustrated with astrology.
I had just discovered that I was a Scorpio and although it had resonated with me, the two-dimensional and reductive portrayals of my star sign left me frustrated and unseen. Horoscopes read very simplistic and generic, and attempting to study the more complicated nuances of an astrology chart was confusing. Venus… conjunction… first house… what? It was a language that I didn't yet understand and I couldn't calculate anything for myself. I didn't like that.
Numerology, on the other hand, was easy. Each letter has a number, from 1-9. Each number has a group of themes associated with it. Calculating the different aspects of your Numerology chart was easy; simple addition and subtraction. I could do this myself, without needing to rely on others' interpretations.
There are the numbers that make up your natal numerology chart, much like how the locations of the planets make up your natal astrology chart.
And there are also the numbers that colour the energies of a day, month and year, much like astrological transits. These are called Personal Years, Personal Months and Personal Days and they are personal to you. Each person will be going through their own personal years, months and days with different numbers.
It's the Personal Days that we need to plan the week.
Why use your Personal Days to plan your week?
The more I’ve allowed myself to observe the inherent energies I carry within, or the energetic currents of a certain period of time - the more I’ve realised that they don’t follow the weekly schedule of productivity and rest, that we’ve collectively agreed upon.
The energy that’s available to us shifts and flows, changing every day, month and year, unbothered by the norms that are dictated by our calendars.
I don't have the same energy every Monday. Nor do I have the same energy every Saturday. Some Mondays I’m incredibly productive, able to get many things done. And others I just want to spend my time off with family. Some Saturdays, I relish in giving myself a lazy morning, living the sweet existence of doing nothing. And others I have excess energy to burn and want to accomplish all my tasks.
I’ve also noticed that I might have loads of energy on a certain day, but only for a certain type of task. For instance, I may have loads of energy to take care of household chores and responsibilities, but not so much for business and financial tasks. Or, I’m craving a true leisure day, but one where I meet friends and do something fun, as opposed to stay at home and cocoon.
Using Personal Days to plan your week, could give you an idea of what kind of energy you’ll have available on a given day and for what in particular. If you plan according to your Personal Days, you could use the energetic current of that day to support you in specific tasks.
Wait… what does each number mean?
Like I mentioned before, each number has a group of themes associated with it. I’ll give you a quick rundown of what each number represents.
1 = beginnings, independence, individuality, initiative, leadership, originality.
2 = relationships, cooperation, balance, harmony, sensitivity, patience, flow.
3 = creativity, self-expression, communication, friends, emotions, joy.
4 = work, stability, foundations, discipline, practicality, dependability.
5 = adventure, travel, variety, experience, transition, change, adaptability.
6 = home, responsibility, family, education, children, nurture.
7 = introspection, solitude, truth, wisdom, intelligence, depth, spirituality.
8 = business, finance, authority, power, achievement, abundance, prosperity.
9 = endings, compassion, letting go, humanity, artistry, altruism, release.
So, how do I calculate my Personal Days?
For this, you need something called your Sun Number, which is really easy to calculate.
1) Take the day and month of your birthday, add them together, and reduce it to a single digit number.
e.g. December 23rd.
12 + 23 = 35.
3 + 5 = 8.
8 is then your Sun Number. This never changes and will always be the base of your calculations for your Personal Years, Months and Days.
2) Use your Sun Number and add the current year to get your Personal Year.
e.g. So if your Sun Number is 8 and you want to calculate your personal year for 2025:
8 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 17.
1 + 7 = 8.
8 is then your Personal Year.
*The reason that the Personal Year and Sun Number are the same in this example, is because 2025 is a 9 Universal Year. When you add 9 to any number, it remains that number.
3) Add the current month to your Personal Year.
e.g. So if you’re in a Personal Year 8 and you want to calculate for April:
8 + 4 = 12.
1 + 2 = 3.
3 is then your Personal Month.
4) Add the days you want to your current Personal Month.
e.g. Let’s say you want for each day of the week 14\4-20\4:
Monday = 3 + 1 + 4 = 8.
Tuesday = 3 + 1 + 5 = 9.
Wednesday - 3 + 1 + 6 = 10 => 1 + 0 = 1.
Thursday - 3 + 1 + 7 = 11 => 1 + 1 = 2.
Friday - 3 + 1 + 8 = 12 => 1 + 2 = 3.
Saturday = 3 + 1 + 9 = 13 => 1 + 3 = 4.
Sunday = 3 + 2 + 0 = 5.
These are your Personal Days for that week.
Let’s plan this week!
If you wanted to take care of work and business matters, checking off your to do list and getting stuff done, the best numbers would be 4 and 8, with 1 and 6, also being possible.
According to this example week, you’ll have the best and accurate energy for these goals on Monday and Saturday!
*Personal reflection = I’ve noticed that on 4 Personal Days, particularly 4 days that fall on the weekend, if I’m not doing something productive on that day, I become lethargic and dissatisfied with my day. So I always give myself tasks to do on that day, even if it’s the weekend.
But if you also wanted to schedule time for, let’s say, a therapy session - you would be better off scheduling that on a 7 or 9 day, or even a 2 or 3 day. That would mean that your best energies for a therapy session, would be on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
This is of course not to say that you can’t take care of work matters on a 3 day, or schedule a therapy session on an 8 day - but those activities will be coloured with the energy of that day.
Use the energies of your Personal Days to your advantage.
Work with them. Maybe you couldn’t schedule an important work meeting on a 1 or 8 day, but it being scheduled on a 2 day, gave you access to an energy of sensitivity and reception, which could help you in understanding your boss\clients better.
Maybe you couldn’t schedule your next therapy session on a 7 or 9 day, but having it scheduled on an 8 day helped you feel empowered after reaching a crucial insight.
Decide what you would like to experience in each of your upcoming activities, and see if you can plan accordingly.
And if you tried your hardest to, let’s say, get things done on a 5 day, but all you want to do is have fun and enjoy the sun - it’s okay! Embrace that the energy of that day is asking for something other than what you had originally planned. 5 is about change and adventure, anyway.
Besides, if you do decide to just give yourself a fun day off whilst in the middle of a 5 day, you do have a 6 day to take care of your responsibilities, the following day.
*Personal reflection = This literally happened to me on a 5 day - I couldn’t bring myself to do any work. Midday, I decided to only do what I found fun, and the following day I had so much energy to take care of everything that I had originally wanted to do on that 5 day.
To sum it up… (see what I did there? 😉)
Numerology is a very easy system that helps tell us what energetic cycles we’re swimming in.
Being aware of our Personal Days (and months and years) can help us plan our activities and intentions, in sync with what we’ll be feeling. We’ll know what to expect.
Knowing our numerology cycles can help us go into them with the right expectations, so we don't get unnecessarily frustrated with ourselves when we're unknowingly swimming against the current.
We also have a Numerology Natal Chart!
This consists of a set of numbers that reflect different parts of our life’s journey and personality. These numbers are with us from birth to death and don't change.
If you're interested in learning more about your Numerology Natal Chart, let me know and I'd be happy to do a deep dive on how to calculate your own and what the different parts refer too.
In the meantime, have fun using Numerology to plan your week!

Oh Ella, you wild number whisperer!
Loved the way you unwrapped numerology like a cosmic croissant, soft layers of logic, buttered with intuition.
You made planning feel like poetry, not punishment.
This is soulful scheduling.
I didn't know how to calculate your own year/month/day, thanks for sharing! Really cool and it resonates!
Wayyy back when I traveled through Southeast Asia I noticed that the number 5 was popping up everywhere. The flight seat number was a 5, my room was a 5, if I was in a hostel it'd be bed number 5.... I didn't know anything about numerology at that point but it became creepy and I looked it up haha
Funny enough my sun number is 5 (and also ends up 5 if I add in my birth year) and this year... also a 5 😂
What year number are you in currently?
